What is an elopement?

There is a misconception that elopements mean “running away somewhere and getting married in secret”. While some people still think of elopements this way, this is no longer how an elopement is defined. An elopement is just “choosing to throw out tradition to focus on the love you have for one another above all else”. It’s a way of choosing to get married that reduces the anxiety and stress from outside opinions, and instead allows the focus to be on your relationship, your priorities, and your experiences. Did you say ‘complete freedom from rules and obligations’? YUPPPP. You can do whatever you want! Elopements can be anywhere, any way.
This means it can be just the two of you, or you can include your best pals, or even your families (perk: you can even bring your dogs)! You can keep it simple or I can guide you through an entire adventure full of memories. You can helicopter to a glacier to say your vows, hike a mountain together to an incredible view for sunset, camp overnight and have your first kiss at sunrise. Whatever it is, make it completely YOU. Need help choosing the perfect location? Need help planning? I’m your perfect guide!

Reminder — an intimate wedding can also be an elopement, the pricing and structure of the day is typically different. Need more help deciding what is right for you? Email me and I’d be happy to to help <3.

How long do we need to plan an elopement?

I’ve had couples book elopements 1-2 years in advance, and I’ve had couples successfully elope within a 2-4 week time frame. On average, most couples book 4-12 months out so that they can get the best deals on travel and lodging, have time to get permits figured out, and time to plan other vendors (floral-install/hair/makeup/officiant, etc.) and activities if they choose.

How much does eloping cost vs. a traditional wedding?

The United States national average for a traditional wedding is approx. $34,000. For less than half of that, you can plan yourself a super rad elopement — heck yeah! Plan to budget approx 50-80% of your budget on photography and the remainder on travel, permit (if necessary), dress/attire, flowers, hair and makeup, an officiant, food, activities, and your marriage license.

What do you require in order to confirm our date?

I require a non-refundable 30% retainer fee in addition to a signed contract in order to reserve your date. Final payment is due one month before your intimate wedding/elopement date (can be made in installments).

We aren’t sure what to wear or where to plan our session, is that okay?

I can help you choose your outfit(s) and am also happy to choose location(s) for the shoot once I get to know you and your personalities/styles better! Sometimes it’s best if I help choose these things anyway! I can help with locations that offer better lighting at specific times of day, as well as help guide you with what style clothing would work out best for each location.

If we need a permit for a specific location, will you help us figure that information out?

YES! I will help research who to contact to figure out if your elopement or intimate wedding location requires you to get permit in order to say your vows and have your ceremony there.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, I have insurance, and if your venue requires proof of liability insurance, please let me know so that I can provide proper documentation. Always remember to take precaution if we are doing any sort of adventure session — proper hiking gear, footwear, food/hydration, etc. to minimize any sort of risk. If you need any help, I gotchu!
