Quintin + Lacey // wedding
"People ask, “What was your favorite moment of your wedding day?” How do you answer that with a moment? The whole day! The whole day is my answer.
It is the day you have dreamed about your whole life, well at least I had. I dreamed who “he” would be, what would the day be like, the dress, the colors, the flowers, the guests, the location, the list could go on. The whole day was my favorite because it was OUR day. It was the day that every detail was perfectly planned out and it was all planned by us, so it was already our favorite everything.
But, there is one thing you can’t plan, the weather! On our wedding day, we woke up to snow! The first snow of a warm fall season, the snow we didn’t expect, the snow that could’ve derailed our perfect day. But, we wouldn’t allow that to happen. As I was getting my make up done, I looked out the snowy window, and knew that God had planned the snow for us on our day. The snow was a reminder of a sweet friend that died too young; it was a reminder that she was there with me that special day. The snow was a reminder that our life, no matter how planned, is in God’s hands. The snow, would not ruin our day, instead it was a blessing symbolizing our fresh white start as a couple together. The snow was our blank slate, and was the start of our story.
The start of our story was our wedding day that included so many favorite memories, but these are just a few:
- Our first look.- Pictures outside in the snow BEFORE our ceremony! (Yes ladies, I went out in the snow! Thankfully, naturally curly hair loves snow and doesn’t tend to move much!)
- Seeing each other as the doors of the church opened.
- The first kiss as husband and wife.
- Laughing with our bridal party as my husband shouted, “HEY WIFEY”, right after the recessional.
- Walking into our reception to the Chicago Bulls theme song.
- Our first dance as husband and wife.
- My surprise dance with dad.
- Dancing with our friends and family to our favorite local band.
- Celebrating the first day of the rest of our lives with people we love!
For the rest of our lives we will tell stories of our wedding day, but the story that we will share daily with people is our love and commitment to each other that we vowed on that day." -Lacey Scholl
