Ryan + Taryn // engagement
Okay, I am a huge sucker for love stories and especially sweet proposals. I met with Taryn awhile back and instantly took a liking to her kind, sweet, and genuine personality. She told me the story of how her and her fiancé, Ryan, met and how they became engaged. The minute she told me their proposal story, I knew I had to share with my readers. Keep reading...this story will melt your heart ♥ :
"I never knew how I would finally meet “the one,” but I always knew it would happen at the perfect time and in the perfect way. I was not disappointed! Last January, we were set up by a mutual friend of ours. We became fast friends which led to falling in love, and by the summertime we knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. Thus, we talked about engagement and went ring shopping.
I am the perfect mix of loving surprises yet being impatient, so I didn’t want to know “when” yet I also had a really difficult time waiting :). As time marched on, I kept trying to guess when it would be, but I was always wrong. Since Ryan and I have a long-distance relationship (I’m in Central IL and he is in Madison, WI), I figured it would have to be on a weekend sometime. That was the only way we had long stretches of time together.
We also had a standing “Skype date” every Wednesday evening. During our Skype dates, we oftener talked about inventing a teleporter. Wouldn’t that be nice? Then we could see each other whenever we wanted at a moment’s notice!
One Wednesday night in August, we had planned to Skype as usual. In fact, I texted Ryan and told him I could talk earlier than planned. He agreed to a time and right before, texted me again to say he needed to reset his internet router— he was having issues. This wasn’t anything out of the ordinary, so I waited and then received another text from him.
“I think I’m having a breakthrough…” It read, “…with the teleporter. Check your front door.”
Excitedly, I ran to the front door, opened it up, and looked all around. Nothing.
Then I looked down, and spotted a Starbucks mocha frapucinno— my favorite. I grinned, picked it up, and went back inside, figuring he arranged for a friend to drop it by as a special start to our Skype date.
“Did it work?” he texted.
“Yes! How did you do that?!” I answered.
A few seconds passed, and then another text appeared, “I think I’m coming through!”
I ran to the door again and opened it, just in time to see Ryan walking towards me! I couldn’t believe my eyes! How was he here in the middle of the week? Wasn’t he supposed to be in Wisconsin?
“How are you here?!” I asked, giving him a huge hug.
“I teleported!” He said, then more seriously, “Do you know why I’m here?”
“I think so…….” I said with a big smile on my face...
And then he got down on one knee, told me that he loved me, and asked me to marry him.
I SAID YES! And I LOVED my ring!! About that time, my friend came walking up from across the street. She had been photographing the entire thing and was in on the surprise. The whole night was so special, and we were able to spend the rest of the week and weekend together newly engaged. Just like how we met, the story of our proposal came about in the perfect time and in the perfect way!"
